Piercings and jewellery come in many different designs, colours and materials. It is important to follow the correct maintenance tips for the different types of piercings to prevent discolouration or damage. This includes different materials, decorations with stones and other specific product types. Below is an overview of the warranty exceptions that have a limited warranty period. For each exception, we provide you with useful tips to prevent the issue from happening.

316L Surgical Steel, Steel And Brass

Unfortunately, products made from 316L Surgical Steel, Steel and Brass are sensitive to discolouration. Water, sweat and chemicals can cause the material to tarnish. If you wear the product while showering, we recommend drying the product with a towel or paper to prevent it from rusting.

We do not recommend wearing the product while exercising, swimming or going to the beach. Also, prevent exposure to perfume, hair spray, makeup and chemical cleaners.

Problems like discolouration, tarnishing and rusting are covered by the warranty for normal use up to 30 days after the date of dispatch.

Sterling Silver

Unfortunately, Sterling Silver products are very sensitive to discolouration. We do not recommend wearing the product while showering, exercising, swimming or going to the beach. Also, prevent exposure to perfume, hair spray, makeup and chemical cleaners. We recommend using a special cleaning agent for sterling silver to regularly maintain the product.

Problems like discolouration, tarnishing and rusting are covered by the warranty for normal use up to 30 days after the date of dispatch.

Gold Plated And other Plated Jewellery

Unfortunately, Gold-plated and other plated jewellery are very sensitive to discolouration due to the removal of the layer of plating from the product. These products are not suitable for moist places, such as the mouth. We do not recommend wearing the product while showering, exercising, swimming or going to the beach.

Also, prevent exposure to perfume, hair spray, makeup and chemical cleaners. Be careful not to brush the plating off due to friction.

Problems like discolouration, tarnishing, rusting and removed plating are covered by the warranty for normal use up to 30 days after the date of dispatch.

14 Karat Gold, White Gold And Rose Gold

Although gold is durable, its finish that gives the material a perfect shine and protection is more fragile.

Prevent exposure of the product to alcohol, perfume, hair spray, makeup or chemical cleaners to prevent it from getting dull. Use a special cleaning agent for gold to regularly maintain the product.

Unfortunately, Gold is not suitable to be used as a Tongue Piercing. Acids in various drinks can cause the product to discolour quite severely.

Problems like discolouration and Gold getting dull are covered by the warranty for normal use up to 30 days after the date of dispatch.

Jewellery And Piercings With Stones

The stones on Jewellery and Piercings are either glued onto the product or kept in place with a 'setting'. We do not recommend wearing the product while showering, exercising, swimming or going to the beach for glued stones. Also, prevent exposure to perfume, hair spray, makeup, chemical cleaners, direct sunlight or excessive heat to prevent the adhesive layer from drying out. To prevent stones from loosening avoid fall or impact damage to the product.

Stones kept in place with a setting are sensitive for impact damage, such as falling or bumping. Damaged settings may cause the stone to fall out.

Lost stones are covered by the warranty for normal use up to 30 days after the date of dispatch.

Belly Bars With Figurines And/Or Pendants

For Belly Piercings without an interchangeable bar and with a figurine, the bar is often glued. This is to protect your belly button from tearing if the piercing catches on your clothing. If too much pressure is applied, the bar separates from the figurine to prevent your belly button from being torn open. The same applies to belly button rings with a pendant. There is a small ring connecting the bottom ball and pendant. This ring will snap or open if there is too much pressure on it.

To prevent this, we recommend not wearing wool clothing or similar clothing with an open structure this belly bar could catch on. We also recommend not wearing the product while exercising, swimming or during any other exercise involving pressure on the bar, including stooping.
Problems with belly bars as described above are covered by the warranty for normal use up to 30 days after the date of dispatch.

Cartilage Jewellery with glued bars

For Cartilage Piercings without an interchangeable bar and with a figurine, the bar is often glued. Some cartilage jewellery can easily catch on to a piece of clothing or your hair, for example. To prevent your ear piercing from being torn open, such jewellery is designed to break when too much pressure is applied to it.

To prevent this, we recommend not wearing wool clothing or similar clothing with an open structure. We also recommend not wearing such jewellery while sleeping or similar activities when your ear is resting on a pillow.

Problems with Cartilage Jewellery as described above are covered by the warranty for normal use up to 30 days after the date of dispatch.

Product For Which The Use Of A Tool Is Necessary

For products where it is stated that the product requires the use of a tool, such as pliers or forceps, additional conditions apply to the warranty. Use the proposed tool or a similar product that is specifically designed for this use. Use the tool as intended or have it done by a professional. Damage to products caused by incorrect use of tools is excluded from the warranty.

Lost balls and other removable parts

Any removable parts, such as balls, should be checked and tightened regularly. We recommend checking removable parts regularly to prevent them from loosening and getting lost. Make sure removable parts are properly tightened, before using such jewellery.
